Inside Oceana: Santa Monica's A-list loved hotel

GLAMOUR has checked in to many a Los Angeles hotel – from the super-modern stays on Sunset Boulevard, to the party-lovers’ boltholes of West Hollywood.

But nothing has compared to the newly refurbished ivy-covered Oceana in Santa Monica, set right on the edge of the Pacific – hello, cinematic views. With 70 suites (no basic rooms here), each one is anchored in a beach-chic-meets-California-cool design. Think blue velvet sofas, four-poster beds and spa-inspired bathrooms with Bottega Veneta bath products (take it from us, you’ll be snapping photos of every corner to take home with you for inspiration). Downstairs, you can stretch out by the geometric-tiled pool and partake in some sun-soaked sipping.

The hotel is steeped in history, too: once owned by Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy), he lived here in the ’40s and ’50s and hosted parties for Hollywood’s A-list in his then-apartment – room 203.

Want to deep dive into the be-good-to-yourself wellness culture LA is famed for? The hotel offers complimentary beachside yoga, guided hikes along the Temescal Canyon trail, bespoke spa treatments – and a state-of-the-art 24-hour gym if your jet lag just won’t quit. Basically, it has everything you need to relax and recharge.

The candy-coloured restaurant, designed under the guidance of famed chef Raphael Lunetta, serves locally sourced Californian cuisine from the farmers’ market.

And if you fancy soaking up the local vibe, you’re just a ten minute walk from the stylish boutiques of Montana, the iconic promenade and world-famous Santa Monica Pier.

Los Angeles, we’re yours.
