Davina McCall’s romantic life is back under the microscope following reports that she has found romance.
The former Big Brother presenter is believed to be dating Michael Douglas – no, not that one – the celeb hairdresser who has been doing Davina’s tresses for the past 19 years.
The 51-year-old was spotted holding hands with Michael at the Chelsea Flower Show, with a source claiming Davina fell for his ‘naughty’ sense of humour.
A source told The Sun: ‘‘The romance blossomed from a place of friendship and trust and the couple are just enjoying each other’s company and having a laugh.
‘Davina especially likes Michael’s sense of humour and kind nature. It’s still fairly early days but Davina’s mates think Michael is a good guy.’
The pair have been close friends for years but Davina has taken Michael has her date to numerous events over the past few months.
This new relationship comes after Davina began dating following the end of her 17-year marriage.
Early relationships
Davina is believed to have briefly dated family friend Eric Clapton in 1985, with the legendary musician producing her demo as she attempted to begin a career in music.
The presenter also had a brief romance with Stan Collymore – believed to have been at the same time the footballer was dating Ulrika Jonsson.
Davina’s first marriage came in 1997 when she tied the knot with boyfriend Andrew Leggett, but this ended after a few months.
She said: ‘I fell madly in love, but it was wrong, so I got out quick.’
Marriage to Matthew Robertson
Davina met Pet Rescue presenter Matthew by chance while walking her dog in Clapham Common, and the couple tied the knot in a celeb-packed wedding at Eastnor Castle in June 2000.
Davina and Matthew went on to have three children together, Holly, 17, Tilly, 15, and Chester, 12, and renewed their vows 15 years after their wedding in a ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
The pair went to couple’s counselling three years after they first got married, with Davina recommending the process highly, saying: ‘It was the best thing we’ve done. I’ve recommended it to a lot of friends.’
And Davina gushed about her husband in interviews throughout their marriage, saying: ‘I’m very lucky, because as far as I know I’ve married a really faithful guy.
‘When I think of Matthew and me in our 70s I see us on a world cruise with entertainment every night!’
However, in late 2017, the couple parted ways after 17 years of marriage.
Davina said: ‘I am very sad to say Matthew and I have separated. Our amazing children are our number one priority.’
The former Streetmate host also shared an Instagram quote reading: ‘Every morning we get a chance to be different. A chance to change. A chance to be better. Your past is your past. Leave it there. Get on with the future part’, and added: ‘I really know about this one. I have made so many mistakes in my life. But there is always a new day.’
Single life
Davina admitted that she had been on a number of dates since splitting from Matthew, but wasn’t going to be pushed into a relationship.
The fitness guru told Stella: ‘Why is being single viewed as a bad thing? I have been out on dates – but can’t a woman be single and happy?
‘I was in a relationship for 20 years and there is a lot more for me to think about than finding a date. Life is different. I have three children and a career.’
