Incredible 210ft-long prototype yacht will be dragged along by a KITE

A Turkish design firm has unveiled a stunning prototype of a 210-foot-long environmentally friendly super yacht that’s pulled through the waters by a kite.

The sleek Ice Kite luxury vessel from Red Yacht Design features a swimming pool, sunbeds, a helicopter landing pad and its own support boat that can carry a submarine for exploration missions.

Ice Kite also has an outdoor dining and bar area, accommodation for 10 people, Jacuzzi and an abundance of spherical glass windows for plenty of natural light.

The futuristic family-friendly global cruiser comes with a pair of 735Kw engines that provides it with a maximum speed of 20 miles per hour and is inspired by ‘Mother Nature’, according to its makers.

The project is still in the design phase and no price or launch date has been announced for the luxurious yacht, but construction is due to begin later this year, Red Yacht Design told MailOnline.

The ship is powered by two engines and a giant 1,722-square-foot parachute-style kite inspired by sailing, as well as a low resistance hull and optimum consumption of diesel engines

‘The main goal is to integrate enclosed spaces with more light and exteriors while ensuring a striking outlook,’ said Red Yacht Design on its website.

‘Full glass living areas and spacious exteriors offer the owner the ultimate sense of openness on board.

‘The owner wanted Red Yacht Design to create a yacht that feels like she already belongs to the sea, inspired by sea animals.’

Ice Kite has 5,112 square feet (475 square metres) in open space and comes with a helicopter landing pad at the bow.

The multi-storied ship has a swimming pool and ‘beach area’ at the rear, complete with lounging areas with sunbeds at different levels.

The very back of the ship has no railing against the open sea, but has a set of steps that lead down to the water, for the possibility of jet skiing.

Ice Kite has also been designed with ‘green technologies’ such its 1,722 square-foot kite, reminiscent of a traditional sailing boat, and a smooth and ‘low resistance’ hull.

The unusual design on the roof of Ice Kite is a specially-designed mast for navigation, as the client who commissioned the design did not want a regular yacht mast.

Ice Kite comes accompanied with a 85-foot-long support vessel called Ice Ghost, which can continuously cruise along with its mothership at the same speed – 20mph.

The main inspiration for the exterior design comes from mother nature. The owner of the yacht, which is about to enter construction, wanted Red Yacht Design wanted something that felt it 'already belongs to the sea', inspired by sea animals. Underneath its deck is a huge garage for diving equipment and ‘toys’ needed for exploring remote places, as well as a maintenance area.

At the centre of the Ice Ghost’s main deck is a crane for loading operations, while deck space is also reserved for a Super Yacht Sub 3, a submarine that can dive nearly 1,000 feet deep, and pair of jet skis that can be used out the back of the Ice Kite mothership.

Again, Ice Ghost’s deck can be converted into a ‘massive party area’ and comes with two comfortable guest cabins for two couples who want a bit of private time away from the main yacht.

Ice Kite been designed by Red Yacht Design, with naval architecture form Dykstra Naval Architects, specifically for one lucky German entrepreneur at an undisclosed price.

‘The owner intends to have the yacht managed under a fractional ownership program, again with the philosophy to use resources reasonable and effectively, Red Yacht Design says.

The unnamed entrepreneur is reportedly considering to build both Ice Kite and Ice Ghost at a Dutch shipyard.

Red Yacht Design says more information will be announced about both shipping vehicles after construction has started, which should be after this summer.
