'I'm so nervous for the trolling': Love Island's Leanne Amaning on the perils of social media & why a 'situationship' is the new dating trend to know

We had Kady McDermott in series 2, Olivia Attwood in series 3 and Maura Higgins in series 5, so who is going to cement their status as the firecracker of Love Island series 6? We’re calling it; Leanne Amaning will usurp the crown.

The 22-year-old customer services advisor from London is a ball of energy, sass and feistiness and we can’t wait to see her in action in the villa.

GLAMOUR flew out to Cape Town to meet the new islanders and Leanne gave us an insight into her fun-loving persona, hinted at an inevitable meltdown and shared her anxiety over social media trolling…

How she landed a spot on the show (and you can, too!)

“I applied because I just wanted to do something different. I’d finished uni and everything so I was like, ‘let’s do something random and wild, let’s go on Love Island.’ If I was advising other applicants, I know it’s so cliché but just be yourself – but an exaggerated version, you’ve got to ramp it up a little!”

“I am so nervous for trolling just because I do talk a lot of rubbish, and a lot of the time, like, it’s a joke or sarcastic, but it might not come across that way. So I don’t think people get it, which means they just wont like me, which is fine.

Avoid Twitter, honestly I used to be addicted to Twitter so you see the things that people say, you can see how vile people are. I don’t want to be on the end of that! “

How she plans on staying sane in the villa (and fears a meltdown)

“To stay sane, I will just try and nap. I think that will keep me through, because honestly, if I don’t have sleep, if I’m not eating correctly, it’s just going to be a mess. I’m due to have a meltdown one hundred percent at some point in there – and it’s a completely different side to me. I’m a mess. I’m a nightmare. If it’s an extreme meltdown I’ll start crying, ranting, and half an hour later I’ll be myself again. “

On making ‘the situationship’ a thing

“A situationship is where you can’t be bothered to have a relationship, but you know it’s just convenient. So it’s literally like the relationship but without the label of girlfriend-boyfriend. It’s not open because you are still kind of exclusive, you just haven’t made it there yet. “

How makeup instils confidence in her

“Ahead of entering the villa, I got my nails done but I’m getting them off tomorrow because I hate them, so that needs to go. I got my pedicure, they’ve already chipped, that’s a disaster. Get them off. I did my lashes that are already falling out. I’m just going to cake my face with makeup everyday because I just feel most confident – I just feel myself.”

We predict a riot…
