Chuckle Brothers’ star Paul Elliott has been forced to deny that he passed away after his late brother Jimmy died this week.

Following the death of his older brother Jimmy, 87, the 71-year-old was quick to stamp out rumours that he was the one who had died.

Paul corrected a fan who had been intending to catch him in action in August and had sent his condolences along with ‘rip paulio’.

A confused fan wrote: ‘Bro how was i planning today to see paul chuckle in sheff next month n he’s just DIED. rip paulio.’

Quashing the rumours, the entertainer replied to the fan: ‘No I’m alive and kicking. My brother Jimmy died.’

Jimmy’s death comes just 12 months after the Chuckle Brothers lost Barry to bone cancer.

Paul went on to thank fans for their wishes as the grieving star broke his silence after the news was shared on the official Chuckle Brothers page on Facebook.

‘I just thought I’d let you know that the Chuckle Brothers older Brother Jimmy Patton has sadly passed away,’ it read.

‘Jimmy was a big part of chucklevision and the stage shows where he played the character No Slacking.

‘RIP Jim Lad. And No Slacking.’

Responding to a number of fans to set the record straight on Twitter last night, and admitting he intending to have a few drinks in memory of his late brother, Paul insisted he had no plans to die just yet.

‘The world is falling apart, Paul Chuckle has now died a year after his brother,’ one distressed fan wrote. To which he also responded: ‘Nobody told me,’ with a whiskey glass.

While another wrote: ‘Click-bait. He wasn’t a “Chuckle brother”. Paul didn’t die.’

To which Paul added: ‘I don’t intend to mate,’ with the fist and thumbs up emoji.

In a statement to Metro.co.uk about Jimmy’s death, Paul said: ‘I am devastated! So few words for the loss of another dearly loved brother.
