Caitlyn Jenner has doubled down on her opinions that transgender athletes who were born male shouldn’t be able to compete in girls’ sports competitions.

The former Olympian decathlon medallist, who recently announced she’s running for California governor, came out as transgender in 2015.

The reality star was pressed to share her thoughts on the controversial subject matter in an impromptu video interview with TMZ.

As Caitlyn approached her car, she was asked: ‘There’s legislation in various states to ban biological boys or trans from playing girls’ sports in school, what’s your opinion on that?’

‘This is a question of fairness,’ Caitlyn responded. ‘That’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school.

‘It just isn’t fair, and we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.’

The reporter then proceeded to ask whether if such a ban was ‘de-legitimising’ to a trans person’s identity.

However, Caitlyn refused to answer the question, instead saying: ‘Have a good day.’

She later shared the interview on her Twitter where she reinforced her stance.

‘I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand,’ she penned.

‘It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.’

Unsurprisingly, Caitlyn’s comments were hit with backlash on social media.

‘Girls belong in girls sports,’ wrote one. ‘Trans girls are girls. There is NO evidence of trans girls outperforming their cis peers. There is only evidence of them being harassed and harmed by their peers. Drop this, develop your hobbies and spend your time NOT doing harm to trans people.’

Another simply added: ‘Never, ever claim to represent trans people.’

Some others, however, praised Caitlyn for her view.
