Cast your minds back all the way to 2006 and you may remember the celeb power couple that was Nadine Coyle and Jesse Metcalfe – and the singer has opened up about the relationship on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
Speaking on Thursday’s show, the former Girls Aloud singer, 34, opened up about how she met the Desperate Housewives star after admitting he was her celebrity crush.
She told Jacqueline Jossa and Adele Roberts: ‘I’ve always had long term relationships and my first boyfriend and I broke up because we had been together between [the age of] 15 and 20 and we were like brother and sister.
‘My second boyfriend was an actor and I’d fancied him from TV. I used to think he is so gorgeous and I was doing an interview and it was one of those “who do you fancy” things and I said the gardener from Desperate Housewives.’
Adele chipped in: ‘Jesse Metcalfe? I didn’t know, oh that’s amazing.’
Nadine revealed Jesse’s rather… interesting way of getting her attention when they bumped into each other on a night out in Australia, when she was on tour with Girls Aloud in 2006.
She explained: ‘Yes, I met him out we had a great night, it was just like everything was right. He came over to me and I thought, “woo you smell amazing”.
‘I went out to the bathroom and he came behind me and pulled me back and said “you are going into the men’s”. It wasn’t, it was the ladies but he said he just want to say something to me.
‘I went to go and he said, “can I come with you?” and I said “yeah, you can”. He left everyone he was with.
‘We had a great time, he was really passionate and fun, we went out for two and a half years. Physically he was my ideal man.’
Nadine and Jesse had their ups and downs during their relationship, as he ended up checking into rehab for alcohol addiction.
She initially stood by him but the couple parted ways in 2007 after cheating allegations surfaced following Jesse’s second stint in rehab.
Nadine told Now magazine in 2008: ‘He had a horrible time going to rehab and it was all too much for me.
‘I blocked it out of my life and decided not to be a part of it and that’s wrong. That’s not something you should do if you love somebody.’
