Adele Roberts has opened up about the explosive row she had with the late Jade Goody when they appeared on Big Brother together in 2002.

The Radio 1 DJ has admitted that she has ‘carried a lot of guilt’ since the infamous row and confessed she could have been ‘a much nicer person’.

The 40-year-old appeared in Big Brother when she was just 23, along with Jade Goody, Alison Hammond and Kate Lawler.

Adele was brought into the public eye after she mocked Jade – who tragically died of cervical cancer in 2009 – after she didn’t know what a verruca was.

This led to Jade almost leaving the Big Brother House.

The star has now spoken out ahead of her stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here and explained that she wants to do things much differently this time around.

‘Looking back, I carried a lot of guilt about the way I acted in Big Brother and I feel like I let myself down and I could have been a much nicer person,’ she began.

‘I’d like to show a better side to myself this time. To both the campmates in there by treating them better but also to come out and have a positive experience not a negative one.

‘I just think I judged people when I shouldn’t have, I should have tried to get to know them a bit more and I think I probably hurt people when I didn’t realise when I was in there.’

In 2007, Adele also appeared on Big Brother 8 where she and her ex-Big Brother housemate Alex Sibley participated in a task.

Alex initially had feelings of a romantic nature for Adele, but after she told him that she was bisexual and had a girlfriend outside the house, the two stayed friends.

Even before her time on Big Brother, Adele worked as a DJ.

She currently works for BBC Radio 1, and she’s previously covered the likes of the Great Manchester Run on BBC Two, the FA People’s Cup on BBC iPlayer & BBC One and the World BMX Championships in Belgium on BBC Two.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here starts on Sunday 17 November on ITV.
