I’m A Celebrity tattoos: The meaning behind the ink from Roman Kemp to Jacqueline Jossa and Ian Wright

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here may have only just started, but fans have been treated to a few shower scenes already.

And as more and more of the jungle campmates start to use the shower, eagle-eyed viewers may begin to notice a number of tattoos adorning celebs’ bodies.

Roman and Jacqueline are among the celebrities with distinctive inkings, while Ian Wright also sports designs on his skin.

Here, we take a look at the tattoos on I’m A Celeb 2019 campmates…

Roman Kemp

Roman is pretty covered with ink and appears to be among the most heavily tattooed of the campmates, with designs adoring his entire body. 

His biggest tattoo is that of an eagle emblazoned across his chest, with its wings outstretched to his shoulders. He also has a large anchor across his ribs on the left-hand side of his body, which has a lizard intertwined around it.

One of his arguably more famous tattoos is one done by Ed Sheeran live on air, which reads “Ed woz ‘ere2k7’ in a tiny font on his shin. Another famous face has also inked Roman: One Direction’s Niall Horan wrote “Nice to melt ya” on his other shin, though this was meant to read “Nice To Meet Ya” in a nod to the singer’s latest track.

Jacqueline Jossa

Jacqueline has a tattoo inked by her husband Dan Osborne: the word “Always” is written in a cursive font across her hip.

The tattoo was done more than two years ago at his studio Ink Paradise in Kent, which he opened with his brother Ryan.

She shared a post on Instagram with the caption: “I have been inked in paradise. Thank you my darling.”

Ian Wright

Ian sports tattoos on his arms, which got him into a bit of trouble in Japan during the 2002 World Cup.

The ex-Arsenal and England forward was getting a rub-down in Japan when he was asked to cover-up his skin art because over there it is seen as a sign of being part of the Yakuza criminal gang.

Paul Armstrong, ex-Match Of The Day editor, made the revelation in his book, Why Are We Always On Last, earlier this year.

James Haskell

James is another one who has had to be careful around tattoos while in Japan. The ex-rugby star spent some time playing in the country for the Ricoh Black Rams and wanted a tattoo of a koi carp on his foot to mark his time there.

He told the Mail: “I’ve got a Japanese koi tattooed on my foot to mark my time in Japan. I really enjoyed the traditional story that is told in Japanese folklore, which is if the koi can fight its way up river and battles up the sacred water fall, it’s granted the ability to become a dragon. It’s a nice legend and signifies that battle for success, which requires hard work and determination.”

But he was told that while there, he had to stop asking around to get one done because of the link tattoos have with crime in Japan – so got inked back in the UK.

The ex-Wasps star also has a number of other tattoos which have special meaning for him, including his unique England ID – 1284 – in Roman numerals on his left bicep. 

He also has a Wallaby tattoo on his heel to mark England’s tour of Australia in 2016, a cupcake with the initials of his now wife Chloe on hs ankle, small record inked on his wrist to make his foray into DJing and an ornate design with the number 7 surrounded by swallows.
