I’m A Celebrity 2019: The Chase star Mark Labbett set to sign up?

Mark, 54, came to fame after appearing on The Chase back in 2009. He has also appeared in the American version of the show and is one of the six chasers on the Australian version.

But could the quizzer be heading Down Under to star in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!?

Appearing on Loose Women, host Christine Lampard was keen to grill Mark and find out if he’d be following in the footsteps of fellow chaser Ann Hegerty?

“Your best mate Anne’s done it and its worked out,” panellist Denish Welch remarked.

Mark replied, noting he was worried about Anne when she went into the jungle, explaining; “I thought the first 48 hours are going to be the worst and they were and she really struggled but fortunately the other ten were so supportive.”

When asked he thought she fared overall, he enthusiastically commented: “Yeah, she had done well.

“She doesn’t have that filter, she says it how it is.”

However, when asked whether he would sign up to the show himself, Mark ruled it out completely.

He explained he’s busy filming for The Chase UK and the Australian version, remarking: “I can categorically confirm that I’m not in the jungle this year.”

It comes after Mark teased he would be busy filming another show for ITV instead at the TV Choice Awards.

He told Digital Spy: “[I’m] not allowed to reveal too much but Anne, Shaun [Wallace] and me are doing some filming for ITV that involves travelling.

“I can confirm I am not doing the jungle this year because I will be in Melbourne filming The Chase Australia until December

“It’s in the same country but I am going to Melbourne, not Brisbane. Just in case anyone says they’ve seen The Beast on the plane to Australia.”

Earlier this month, Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who is best known for his role at Tyrone Dobbs, hinted he could be going into the jungle.

Sharing a photo of himself in a woodland area on his Instagram page, he suggested he would like to take part.

Posing in hiking gear, he captioned the shot: “It’s a jungle out there.”

If Alan were to appear, he’d be following in the footsteps of fellow Coronation Street stars Jennie McAlpine and Antony Cotton.

Meanwhile, his co-star Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, has also been rumoured to be signing up.

She joins a long list of rumoured stars including Great British Bake off stars Nadiya Hussain and Rahul Mandal.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of here is set to return to ITV later on this year.
