I'm A Celebrity 2019: ITV show to make history by unveiling huge shake-up to camp

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! has been a pinnacle of reality television for over 17 years, with Ant McPartlin, 43, and Dec Donnelly, 44, welcoming a whole plethora of all-star contestants. Although there have been some changes to proceedings over the course of the ITV programme’s near two decade history, there will be a huge upheaval to the camp itself this year.

The likes of American superstar Caitlyn Jenner, 70, sports pundit Ian Wright, 56, and Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, 52, are amongst the cast who have already ventured Down Under ahead of tomorrow night’s launch.

Prior to their arrival however, there had been concern over whether the line-up would be able to enter the jungle as bushfires swept across the New South Wales territory of Australia.

Although the area used for the programme was reportedly going to be 30 kilometres (18.6miles) away from where the flames were taking hold, bosses stated there would be no disruption to proceedings.

However, to ensure there is no risk of further blazes, preventative steps are being taken which will mean there is no camp fire this year; a huge change to the show’s format.

This will be the first time in the programme’s 17 year history such a shake-up has been enforced and instead, a specially made gas stove is being introduced.

An ITV spokesman told Express.co.uk: “In light of the current situation in Australia, I’m A Celebrity will not feature an open camp fire.

“Instead, campmates will cook their food and boil their water on a specially made gas stove.”

Since the show began back in 2002, the celebrities enduring jungle life have always been seen preparing food, joking, arguing and consoling one another around the camp fire.

The full line-up was announced on Tuesday and fans are already making their predictions on who will win the jungle crown.

There is also speculation arising on who will be the first famous face to make an exit from the camp.

Following Noel Edmonds, 70, making a late entry and early departure last series, there is a feeling the same thing could happen this year to one of the programme’s biggest signings.

Latest odds from William Hill bookmakers are putting Caitlyn as one of the favourites to be voted off first.

They currently have the American reality star at 7/1 to be sent packing despite taking part in the US version of the show in 2003.

William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams said: “Caitlyn Jenner clearly understands the format of the show but after years of pampering she might find the jungle a different proposition second time around.”

On the other end of the spectrum, Ian is looking like the one to beat as his chances of winning sit at 5/2.

Former England rugby player James Haskell, 34, has seen his position on taking the crown improve as he now stands at 9/2 behind the sports pundit, having previously been at 5/1.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2019 begins Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
