I'm A Celeb camp battered by heavy rain and hail as ferocious thunder storm hits

The I’m A Celebrity site has been lashed by a ferocious thunder storm with the camp being hit by heavy rain and hail last night.

The TV show’s set, located in a national park south of Brisbane, suffered a deluge as storms gathered over the area.

Last year’s star John Barrowman was there to record Extra Camp and he filmed the appalling weather from his hotel room late on Sunday.

The clip shows lightning and heavy rain over the jungle where the camp is based, with the trees around the buildings being whipped around by strong winds.

John wrote on the video: “Huge rain storm. Thinking about the I’m A ceebrity campmates right now.”

He added in a caption: “It’s a huge storm… Not so fabulous for the campmates.”

The campmates will have got a little bit damp

Areas south of Brisbane were battered by hail storms last night, with reports suggesting some stones the size of cricket balls knocked out power lines and brought traffic to a standstill.

However, local authorities have warned the storm will have done little to dampen the bush fires which continue to rage across the region.

Although they have not yet come anywhere near the I’m A Celebrity camp, many regions have been left devastated by the flames.

I’m A Celebrity 2019

Six people have died, and around 530 homes have been destroyed since the bushfires broke out several weeks ago, while hundreds of others have been forced to flee.

I’m A Celebrity bosses have taken precautions this year by banning camp fires on the site, giving the stars a gas hob to cook with instead.

The contestants are likely to have gotten a bit damp in the rain storm last night, but it’s been revealed their camp is actually protected from the elements by a roof.
