I’m A Celeb bosses could be forced to evacuate stars from camp due to Australian wildfires

I’M A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! bosses have confirmed they will evacuate stars from the camp if the bushfires get too close and are monitoring the blazes hourly.

There are dozens of bushfires burning in the New South Wales, with one just 30km away from camp.

While the series isn’t under threat yet, bosses are forced to monitor the blazes in case they come within reach of the stars.

Speaking on This Morning, an ITV boss said: “We are monitoring the situation on an hourly basis and we have backup plans in place.”

Three people have lost their lives since the fires broke out on November 7. Around 150 homes have been destroyed.

The I’m A Celebrity set is in a forest near the town of Murwillumbah, which is in the north east of the state.

Another issue for the camp is the fire ban placed by the New South Wales government – meaning the iconic centrepiece might not factor into the series.

This means they cannot cook, boil water or warm themselves by the flames.

The NSW Rural Fire Service website states: “Bush fires are more likely to spread and cause damage on days when the weather is very hot, dry and windy. These are usually on very high to extreme fire days.

“To reduce the risk of fires damaging or destroying life, property and the environment the NSW RFS Commissioner may declare a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN). In a Total Fire Ban, no fire may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended.”

This year’s star-studded cast includes radio DJ Adele Roberts, Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright and Jacqueline Jossa.

Builders have been busy constructing the camp for launch night on Sunday, which boasts a jungle gym, hammock beds and drinking fountain.
