iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango cancelled for first time in 22 years amid coronavirus pandemic… as headliner Harry Styles postpones his own tour

This year’s iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango has been cancelled for the first time in 22 years.

Harry Styles, the only act to be announced, also took to Twitter Tuesday night to reschedule his upcoming tour dates to 2021. 

The coronavirus pandemic has called for the cancellations and postponements of numerous musical events across the world.

iHeartRadio released a statement Tuesday, saying: ‘The 2020 iHeartRadio Wango Tango concert has officially been cancelled. Refunds are being issued to ticketed guests.’

Host Ryan Seacrest took to Twitter, adding: ‘It’s unfortunate we had to cancel our summer tradition, but sometimes we have to see the bigger picture and make sacrifices. Let’s get through this together and celebrate at the next show!’

The one-day event was scheduled for June 6 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Styles was previously the only act to be announced, kicking off the North American leg of his Love On Tour.

His European tour was to precede, starting in April, before he took to Twitter Tuesday to postpone it to February, 2021.

He wrote: ‘Anyone who knows me, knows that performing has always been my favorite part of working in music.

‘However, during times like these, the safety and protection of touring crew, fans, and everyone else around the world is an immediate priority.’

Wango Tango and Love On Tour are just the latest music events to be affected by the disease known as COVID-19.

SXSW was one of the first to be cancelled, as Coachella postponed its festivities to October.
