If you watch one thing today, let it be Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray's incredible screen test for 'Dirty Dancing'

Love Dirty Dancing? Of course you do. Who doesn’t? It remains as one of the best films to come out of Hollywood and trust us, we don’t say that lightly.

In fact, some of the scenes from the iconic 1908s flick still live in our heads rent free and of course, they all include the beautiful specimen that the late Patrick Swayze. That’s why we lost all chill when we discovered a clip from his screen test for the movie with co-star Jennifer Grey.

For the few that may not be familiar with the film (seriously, where have you been for the past three decades?), Dirty Dancing follows the story of Frances “Baby” Houseman, a young woman who falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle, Patrick Swayze, at a holiday resort.

Written by Eleanor Bergstein and directed by Emile Ardolino the cult classic was first released in 1987 and has since been developed into a musical and been the theme of many costume parties.

The screen test sees Swayze and Grey perform together with the same seamless energy we all fell in love with on the big screen. The chemistry between the two was quite clearly through the roof even during rehearsals, which comes as no surprise. We don’t know about you but the clip has us feeling super nostalgic… and a little flustered!

Last year, news of a Dirty Dancing sequel was confirmed, once again getting our hearts racing. The new film is set to be directed by Jonathan Levine and will see Grey return as Baby whilst also acting as a producer.

Swayze sadly died of pancreatic cancer in 2009, aged, while Jerry Orbach, who played Baby’s dad Jake Houseman, also passed away in 2004.

When the news of the forthcoming sequel was announced on 7th August 2020, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said: “It will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise’s fans have been waiting for, and that have made it the biggest-selling library title in the company’s history.”

No further updates have been released yet, but we’ve got our eyes peeled for them!
