Former West Ham striker Ian Wright believes the Hammers will beat Manchester United at the London Stadium today.

The Hammers host Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the first of a Super Sunday special which includes Chelsea against Liverpool in the later game.

West Ham beat United 3-1 last term in one of the darkest days of Jose Mourinho’s reign at Old Trafford and the Hammers could climb as high as third with a win.

The Red Devils recorded a morale-boosting 1-0 win against Leicester last Saturday but were well below-par in a 1-0 victory against Astana on Thursday.

And Wright believes the Hammers have enough quality up front to pull off a result against Solskajer’s men.

‘What I like about this West Ham side is that with Haller and in Felipe Anderson and Yarmolenko is that they have the pace on the wings but also that they can hold it up,’ said Wright.

‘This is the thing for them. I think they’ll attack United and I think that they should because they need to put them under pressure. If they put them under pressure that’s when you’ll start to see Manchester United creak.

‘When you look at West Ham, they’ll be looking forward to United coming [to their place].

‘You look at United’s away form and the way West Ham play in their 4-5-1 in how they get it up to Haller, they’ll be putting pressure on Manchester United and attacking them at pace. I think it’s a game that West Ham will really fancy winning. ‘

Solskjaer is without Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial for the trip, while Mason Greenwood was not send in the squad that travelled down to London.

Daniel James was part of the squad and the likes of Harry Maguire, David De Gea and Victor Lindelof are all expected to be reinstated to the starting line-up.
