Ian Wright reacts in disbelief as he learns of Unai Emery's sacking from Alan Shearer

Ian Wright acted in utter disbelief when he was told by Alan Shearer that Unai Emery had been sacked as Arsenal boss.

Spaniard Emery was dismissed as the Gunners manager at the end of November after a string of poor results, that had left the north London side struggling to qualify for the top four in the Premier League.

Gunners legend Wright missed the announcement and was unaware of Emery’s departure due to his stint in the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here jungle.

It wasn’t until he got his mobile phone back and went through a number of voice messages that he eventually found out the news.

And strangely enough it was fellow Match of the Day pundit Shearer who broke the news to him.

Wright listened intently as the ex-England and Newcastle front man, before being left with his mouth wide open when told about Emery’s demise.

“Wrighty! If you’re hearing this, you must be out of the jungle,” Shearer said in a clip which will be on Thursday night’s Coming Out show.

“Thank god for that… I don’t have to vote for you any more to do all those trials. And, of course, to stay in.

“Anyway, we will welcome you back on Match of the Day on the 14th (December).

Wright was informed of the news by Alan Shearer

“[Unai] Emery’s gone, [Mauricio] Pochettino’s gone…

“I hope you don’t bring that high-pitched screaming we saw in the jungle doing those trials with James [Haskell].

“Well done! See you soon, bye-bye.”

Almost as soon as the message ended, Wright put his phone down clasped onto his neck and  said with a stunned tone: “Emery’s gone?”
