Ian Wright has become the latest football figure to offer his take on the striking issue facing Jurgen Klopp this weekend.
The Liverpool boss faces a dilemma over whether or not to go with the tried and tested Roberto Firmino or man in form Diogo Jota for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City, and it seems as though everyone has got a different view.
Firmino has started all 14 of Klopp’s matches against City during his time as Reds manager, posting an impressive five goals and five assists in that time.
But the Brazilian has only notched once so far this season, a far cry from Jota’s tally of seven goals in 10 appearances, often from the bench, with the Portuguese’s hat-trick at Atalanta in midweek making it six goals in his last four appearances in the past two weeks.
Wright is a big fan of the former Wolves forward, and thinks Klopp should stick with the man in form for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.
“Yeah, I would [start Jota],” Wright told Premier League Productions .
“Bobby Firmino’s form in terms of goalscoring is something Liverpool need to address.
“He needs to get all three of them doing it and at the moment all three of them can do it. I’d probably play him, yeah.”
The Arsenal great added that he thinks Jota is the perfect fit for Klopp’s side.
“When they signed Jota, it didn’t make you think ‘What are they getting him for?'” he said.
“You just went, ‘Ah, I get that. I can see that’.
“Watching him the last three games, you can see he’s someone who is going to really, really kick on there. He’s going to really kick on.”
