Ian Stirling squirms as he dodges questions about marrying Laura Whitmore

Ian Stirling was left ‘disappointed’ by his awkward chat with Lorraine Kelly this morning as she pressed on him about wedding plans.

The Love Island voice-over star, 32, tuned into a chat with the telly presenter via video chat as he sat down to talk about appearing on this year’s Soccer Aid.

But it seems as though Lorraine didn’t get the memo, as she went on to quiz him on all things Laura Whitmore, after Iain popped the question to her earlier this year.

Attempting to bring up the topic subtly, Lorraine says: “Now look, I’m going to be cheeky. Are there wedding bells? Can I hear wedding bells going ding dang dong? Or is it too early?”

Clearly disappointed with the question being about other than what he appeared on ITV for, Iain says: “Lorraine… this is not in the research chat.

Lorraine attempted to bring up a wedding-related question in a subtle way

“I expected better from you.”

His response triggered an awkward silence between the two, after which Lorraine tried to switch the topic onto the pair working together on Love Island.

Deflecting the conversation topic, Lorraine said: “We’ll take it as it comes, but obviously you two are doing really well together, you’re obviously a great couple. And you’ve worked together at some stage.”

Her comment triggered a polite smile from Iain, who again dodged speaking about his relationship with the Irish telly presenter.

Iain managed to dodge the question

Iain and Laura got engaged at the beginning of the year in South Africa, after the pair finished filming the winter series of the dating show.

The pair met in 2016 but it wasn’t until the following summer that sparks flew between them, eventually leading them to date.

Back in May, Laura revealed her blossoming romance with Iain started out when he reached out to ask about her pooch Mick.

She revealed: “Iain slipped into my DMs to ask about him.

“What he said was ‘this girl I know wants to know what kind of dog you have’ so I thought that’s what it was. I was like okay, I could have just replied maltipoo.”

She added: “But it turns out that was his way of starting a conversation with me, but I thought that was him talking to me to try and get on with that girl.”

Laura also revealed that Iain really took his time to make a move according to the smitten presenter.

She said: “When we first met he didn’t even hit on me, he was too nervous to hit on me! I think he was intimidated by me – I remember Iain was too scared to ask me out so in the end I had to ask him out.

She added: “He used to send me random messages, DM me and ask me about my dog.

“It took nine months but we got there! I was like ‘let’s just go for a drink’. I think I had to make the moves on him.”

When quizzed on how well she knew her future beau at the time, Laura admitted: “I had met him a few times at ITV things, at the TV Baftas and things like that, but I didn’t know him that well, he didn’t have my number so he went into my DMs to ask me.”
