I tried the red carpet facial from Salma Hayek’s go-to skin guru and it gave me the best glow

Steering clear of dull skin is a task. Time and time again I’ve depended on face masks, serums and acid toners to give me that fresh faced – just been through a high moment in life – glow, but sadly couldn’t manage to get the desired effect.

I have one word for you; facials. Having tried and tested a lot of products to get that luminous, glowy skin, I can safely say that facials get this glow right. For someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin ensuring the products that are applied to my face are compatible is a very rigorous process. Starting out simple, the treatment that has been reigning supreme in the glowy skin department has been the aptly named the Red Carpet Facial by none other than Salma Hayek’s facialist, Emma Brown.

Emma’s facial takes place in 58 Wellbeing treatment rooms at networking club for businesswomen, AllBright, in London locations Mayfair and Rathbone. Offering a plethora of physical, emotional and spiritual treatments for the body, walking into these calming rooms allows you to turn off and enjoy the pampering fully. With some of London’s leading therapists in their residence, 58 Wellbeing is the place to be for some extra special healing.

On a scale of mild to very intense, the red carpet facial ranks as mild with an acid peel being the main event. Each facial Emma works on is slightly bespoke to the individual’s skin type, and so my facial works best for sensitive, acne-prone skin.

The Facial

Firstly, Emma uses a creamy, balmy based cleanser to remove makeup and impurities this warmed up the skin and increased circulation. This was followed by a light acid-based cleanser to soften pores and deeply cleanse off any build up. She proceeded with a double cleanse using detoxify lymphatic drainage massage techniques to deeply clean, decongest and de-puff skin. The cleanser itself contained gentle exfoliating beads which had an amazing citrus orange scent.

Emma then focused on exfoliation using triple microdermabrasion skin polish to help loosen and remove congestion and dead skin cells. This created a little more slip to the skin to massage, and trust me, you don’t know you need a face massage until it’s done.

She performs her signature “Lifting & Contouring” deep facial massage, to lift, tone, de-puff and detoxify the skin, which improves clarity and tone. The massage itself targeted the cheeks and jaw area, which if you’re not used can come as a bit of a shock.

Wiping the liquid cleansers off, Emma started the light lactic and mandelic acid skin peel. It dissolves debris from the pores and brightens overall skin tone and clarity, creating luminosity. The peel was at first slightly tingly, but once it sinks it, you can feel it working its magic.

To finish the glowing effect, Emma used a light micro-needling with HA serum to tighten, plump and rejuvenate skin which felt a lot nicer.

Cooling and relaxing the skin Emma used a super hydrating healing moisture mask to soothe, smooth and heal skin, whilst also counteracting any skin inflammatory. It was such a calming break from the intensity of the acid peel.

Finally, she finished off with serums and moisturisers to target my specific skin type and concerns.

The Verdict

All in all, my skin felt like it had been through a 45 minute detox. From the facial massage all the way through to the calming grey clay mask, my skin looked immediately brighter, glowy and relaxed. If you’re after a quick turnaround and have a birthday or event coming up, this would work a treat.
