I kicked my husband out of the delivery room after he made the rudest remark about me to our midwife – it still hurts

IT’S one of the most difficult and painful processes a woman will ever go through.

But one man was so unconcerned about how his wife was coping while in labour with their daughter that he made an incredibly rude remark about her to the midwife.

His comment led to his other half kicking him out of the delivery room – and he missed the birth of their first child.

The woman took to Reddit’s Am I The Asshole? forum to recount the situation and ask whether or not she was in the wrong, writing: “We were in the delivery room together, all was going well, I was in a lot of pain, but he was really supportive.

“The midwife was asking us questions about the baby etc in between contractions just to help me ease my mind a little.

“Then she said if we are excited about the pregnancy being over and I said that yes, because it’s been hard for me.

“My husband snorted and said ‘for me too, she was so difficult’.

“Midwife tried to change the subject, but I asked my husband what the f he means by that, and he said that he is happy it’s over and he will get his wife back and ‘the hormonal mess is over’.”

She added that she was “so hurt” by the comment, and asked him to leave the room.

“He said he’s not going anywhere, because his child is being born here. I yelled at him to get the f out and he was p**sed off, called me an AH for making him miss his kid’s birth and stormed off.”

Concluding, she wrote that he “hasn’t been back to see our daughter” but is “supposed to come later today”.

While she questioned whether or not she was in the wrong for her actions, people were vastly in agreement that it was her husband that had acted badly.

“My husband is normally a joker and I was actually counting on some of his silly jokes during delivery to help ease my stress,” one wrote.

“Turns out my husband was so nervous he hardly said a word. If seeing the delivery is important to someone they will behave.

“This man that op talks about is a true AH (asshole).”

“If it means that much to him, he could have behaved himself like a supportive partner and kept his stupid, insulting and demeaning jokes to himself,” another added.

“Pregnancy is hard and any man who can’t give his wife the respect she deserves for what she has done shouldn’t be in the delivery room.”

“The idea that a man or anyone would say how hard pregnancy is on men is just mind boggling,” a third wrote.

“How does one even address something so illogical and lacking in emotional maturity?”

As someone else commented: “She’s always going to remember this too.

“I’ll never forget my ex-husband refusing to hold my hand while I was labouring because I was squeezing too hard and it hurt him.

“Notice I said ex-husband!”
