Hustlers is fast-paced, brimming with attitude and sees J-Lo in full-on diva mode

AS a caper involving former strippers, this may have you preparing for a cheese-fest.

But we get an absolute joy of a film with one of the best comebacks in years.

Based on true events, Constance Wu is Destiny, a down-on-her-luck stripper looking for a break.

This comes in the form of Ramona (Jennifer Lopez), the hottest and richest stripper in town.

The girls enjoy all the money that drunk Wall Street bankers can tuck into their G-strings – until the crash of 2008, that is.

With the club empty and rich clients a rarity, the pair embark on a hustle to drug unsuspecting suitors and swipe their corporate cards.

Told in flashback style, this is a film defined by two things. 1) Its very distinct chapters. 2) Jennifer Lopez.

At first, we see a pretty standard “strippers are normal people too” film, which then turns on a sixpence and you find yourself in director Lorene Scafaria’s confident take on a Scorcese flick.

It is fast-paced, brimming with attitude and despite it careering to its inevitable conclusion, never really attempts to justify the women’s actions.

And J-Lo, in full-on diva mode, steals every scene in a return to form.

This is a sexy, funny and morally ambiguous romp.

Go into it with your tongue in cheek and an open mind.
