Hugh Jackman has sent an emotional message to a nine-year-old boy who wanted to kill himself.

Quaden Bayles, a schoolboy with dwarfism from Queensland, Australia, was filmed sobbing and saying he wanted to die because of the ‘constant’ bullying at school.

After the heartbreaking footage went viral, Hugh reached out to Quaden and told him he’s ‘stronger than he knows’.

In a clip posted on Twitter, The Greatest Showman actor said: ‘Quaden, you are stronger than you know mate, and no matter what, you’ve got a friend in me.

‘So, everyone lets please be kind to each other, bullying is not OK.’

He went on: ‘Life is hard enough, so let’s remember, every person in front of us is facing some kind of battle, so let’s just be kind.’

Quaden has had global support after struggling with being bullied by classmates over his dwarfism.

‘I’m going to die right now… give me a knife, I’m going to kill myself. Give me a knife now so I can stab myself in the heart. You watch me,’ he says in a clip his mother Yarraka shot in her car.

He later adds: ‘I want someone to kill me…I want to die.’

Yarraka said: ‘This is what bullying does,” before explaining that she has to ‘constantly keep my eye on him because of the suicide attempts’.

‘So now we have a severely suicidal child who is sick of the bullying that is every single day that he attends school or is in public.

‘It’s every single f****** day and we’re sick of it.’

Yarraka filmed the video last week after seeing Quaden getting bullied when she picked him up from school.

She said: ‘We just went to pick him up and saw a student patting him on the head and making fun of his height.

‘He ran to the car in hysterics because he doesn’t want me to make a scene at the school.’

The outpouring of support from around the world since has overwhelmed the Bayles family.

A GoFundMe page was launched by comedian Brad Williams to send Quaden to Disneyland has reached $120,000 (£96,000).

Yarraka said she hopes her son’s video helped raise awareness about not only addressing bullying but also Indigenous suicide rates in Australia.

‘It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to lose their babies and that is my reality every day,’ she said.

‘I have to prepare for the worst because everything he is going through with his medical condition and the suicide attempts are very real and people don’t understand that.’
