Huda's first-ever mascara has 100,000 people on the waiting list, but I tried it ahead of time

PRODUCT

HUDA Beauty Legit Lashes Mascara, £24

THE HYPE:

Huda’s first foray into the beautysphere was with her best-selling faux lashes in 2013. Having made them her trademark, it stands to reason that, on deciding to bring out a mascara, she made it her mission to create something that could stand up against the falsies. After five years of development, and she’s finally happy to share the dual-ended wand with the world. It launches tomorrow, and it already has a waiting list of over 100,000 people.

BEAUTY BIO:

Thanks to my job, I’ve tried hundreds of mascaras, so I’m interested to see how this one compares.

THE REVIEW:

The first thing to note, is this is dual ended, which already doubles your options. “One thing I noticed out of the hundreds of mascaras I’ve tested over the years, is that to get the most length and drama, you really need to use a volumising mascara combined with a lengthening mascara,” Huda explains. “Which is why we had to create two formulas and two wands.”

One end offers curl and length, with a slim, curved wand studded with gradiated bristles that get bigger toward the centre of the comb for an accentuated curl. The formula is infused with a fibre-infused wax that adds an impressive 5mm of length to each lash. Crucially though, it doesn’t clump. This dishes up incredible definition, for a long, delicate everyday flutter (and it’s magic on bottom lashes).

The other end offers maximum volume, with a flexible rubber, medium-sized wand that grips and coats every single lash. You can build up a sexier, clumpier finish with this that feels very glam. If you’re looking to amp up sparse lashes with a fuller-looking formula, this is the way to go.

Of course, you can combine the two. I started with adding oomph to curled and lengthened lashes by adding the volume on top, but I’ve found if I start with Volume, then go in with Curl & Length, it gives me full whopper lashes that also look defined. My advice? Have a play around to see what you like best.

THE VERDICT:

I’m very impressed. Two wands, each with enough muscle to coax dinky, sparse lashes into a full on flutter whether you prefer delicate defined lashes or XXL volume.
