The latest Pokémon Direct is set to go live at 2:30pm BST on 9 January 2020, with 20 minutes of news on the world of pocket monsters following the launch of Sword and Shield. What is Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo Direct is the legendary Japanese gaming company’s way of communicating with both the press and fans. It’s namely for making news announcements for upcoming games.

The announcements can vary, from new gameplay features to new accessory reveals and even release date announcements. Previously, Nintendo used its Direct presentations to unveil the Nintendo Switch, as well as many of its best Nintendo Switch games and best 3DS games.

Occassionally there will be a dedicated Pokémon Direct presention espeically for the franchise.

When is the next Nintendo Direct?

The latest Nintendo Direct, a Pokémon Direct, will take place on Thursday, 9 January 2020 September at 2:30pm UK time. 

There’s little infomation other than it will be “20 minutes of new Pokémon information”. This could include an update for Sword and Shield such a DLC content and we could even see a Switch version of Detective Pikachu or a follow-up.

Tune in for possible information on Pokémon Home and Sleep and a potential remake of some older games like Gold/Silver or Diamond/Pearl in the vein of Let’s Go.
