The arrival of Disney+ in the UK is exciting news for millions of people currently confined to their homes during the coronavirus outbreak.
It brings a vast collection of classic Disney and Marvel content to all the screens in your home, alongside many National Geographic series and every season of The Simpsons. New content is headlined by The Mandalorian, with plenty more expected in the coming months.
While the Xbox One is primarily a gaming device, it also allows you to play videos from your favourite streaming services, turning your monitor into a smart TV of sorts.
A dedicated Disney Plus app was added to the Xbox One at launch, so here’s how to download it and start watching.
How to get Disney Plus on Xbox One
You will need to sign up for Disney+ account before you open the app, so we’d recommend sorting that out on a mobile device or PC beforehand. After a 7-day free trial, it’s available for £5.99/$6.99 per month or £59.99/$69.99 for a whole year.
Once that’s done, just follow these easy steps:
- Head to the Microsoft Store on your Xbox and head to the Apps section
- You may see the Disney+ app already, but if not click ‘Search Apps’ and then type in ‘Disney’
- Once the results start showing, click on Disney+ (it should be the first option) and download it
- Once the download has completed you should see the tile appear on your home screen. Just click it and sign in to start watching
Can I get Disney Plus on Xbox 360?
Unfortunately not. This is perhaps understandable, considering it was replaced as the flagship Xbox console back in 2013. There may be a further announcement once the streaming service is established across the world, but we think that’s unlikely.
Fortunately, Disney Plus+ is available on a huge number of other devices. In addition to through the website and app, you can also get it on PS4, Sky Q/Now TV, Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV.
