Christmastime is here, and with it comes the primal need for us to make our homes look festive.

Free-standing decorations like Christmas trees are fairly self-explanatory, but when it comes to hanging wreaths, you’ve got some options.

While some devil-may-care mavericks use things like thumbtacks or nails to hang their festive loops, others are a bit less cavalier about what they stick in their doors and walls.

Here are decorating tips for those who want to get into the Christmas spirit, all while keeping their deposits.

How to hang a Christmas wreath

There are plenty of different ways to hang a Christmas wreath without harming your walls or doors.

Over-the-door hangers are particularly popular, as they can easily fit over pretty much any door in your house and are very easy to keep and reuse.

Most people have them lying around the house – all you need to do is slip it over your door, apply the wreath and you’re good to go.

Alternatively, you can get Christmas-themed ones, like these little guys from Not On The High Street.

You can also get special Command hooks, which are designed to firmly stick to your walls without leaving any marks.

Their Medium Brushed Nickel hooks are available on Amazon and can hold up to 1.3 kg.

To reuse them, you just need more of the right strips.

If you don’t like the sound of a hook, you can add a ribbon to the mix instead.

Simply tie or loop the ribbon around your wreath in whatever manner you like, and use a tack to fix the ribbon to the top of your door directly underneath the doorframe.
