How to get Horizon Zero Dawn for free with Play at Home

Sony’s Play at Home initiative has been a hit in 2021, with Sony offering a variety of titles for PS4 and PS5 gamers to enjoy free of charge in a bid to keep us entertained while we’re spending more time at home than ever before. The 2020 event saw great titles like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection given away for free, and Sony is continuing that in 2021 with huge titles like Horizon Zero Dawn. We explain how to get your hands on them right here.

The good news is that unlike PlayStation Plus freebies only available while you’ve got an active subscription, you’ll get to keep Play at Home titles in your library indefinitely, for free.

How to get Horizon Zero Dawn for free on PS4 and PS5

When it comes to getting your hands on Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for free, you need only head to the listing on the PlayStation Store – either on the web, or on your PS4 or PS5 itself – and click the ‘Add to Library’ button to add it to your digital collection. You’ll then get an order confirmation email, like with any other PlayStation Store purchase, and you’ll then be able to download the game to your console.

There is a catch though; you’ve got to be quick if you want the excellent freebie. It’s the last title to be offered as part of Sony’s Play at Home giveaway, available only between now and 14 May 2021 at 4am BST for those of us in the UK. Once the promotion is over, the game will return to its former price of £15.99/$15.99 on the store.

Don’t feel the need to power through the game though, as even though it won’t be free to buy from mid-May, it’ll continue to be available in your library indefinitely – and as mentioned, there’s no need for a PlayStation Plus subscription either.

Which other Play at Home games can I download for free?

While Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition is the star of Sony’s Play at Home initiative, it’s not the only title available to download for free right now.

In fact, there are nine other titles for PS4/PS5/PSVR available free of charge, including hit titles like Abzû and Subnautica. The issue is that, unlike Horizon Zero Dawn, the rest of the collection is only free to download until 22 April at 04:00 BST/20:00 PT, so you’ll need to be quick.

We’ve listed each game, with a link to the PlayStation Store, for ease:
