How to get cheap and FREE cinema tickets during the Easter school holidays

A trip to the cinema is the perfect way to keep the kids busy when they’re on , however, tickets for the average family outing doesn’t come cheap.

But there are a few nifty ways parents can cut the cost, and luckily they’re all pretty easy to do, it’s just a case of knowing where to look for the best savings and promotions.

Cineworld, Vue and most of the major cinema chains offer discounted children’s viewings throughout the holiday period, as well as cheaper family tickets and deals on food and drinks (although taking a packed lunch or snacks is by far the cheapest option).

However, below we have listed out nine more simple ways you can make your next cinema trip with your brood less taxing on the wallet.

1. Claim your free cinema tickets

If you love a freebie and appreciate a good deal then it’s worthing signing up for a TopCashback account to claim some free cash to cover the costs of your next cinema trip.

The offer is running until midnight on 30 April, giving all new members a free cinema ticket for any UK cinema up to the value of £10. Parents can claim the savings by following the steps below.

  1. Sign up to for free
  2. Buy a cinema ticket from any UK cinema and £10 cashback will be awarded (£5 minimum spend)
  3. Sign back into your TopCashback account and submit your receipt. This can be done by navigating to Offers > Snap & Save. Alternatively, you can submit your receipt via the app (further details on how to download the mobile app can be read here)
  4. Snap a picture of the receipt, showing the date and time of purchase, the cinema name, and the ticket that is eligible for cashback. You can fold your receipt to show all of the required information (full T&C’s can be found here)
  5. Once receipts have been submitted, cashback will track in member’s accounts within seven working days and will become ‘payable’ within 30 days.

What’s the fine print? This is a new member-only deal and anyone redeeming it will need to spend £5 or more to be eligible.

The deal is is wholly funded by TopCashback, who will refund 100% of the order value, up to £10. For example if an order is less than £10, members will receive a refund of what t hey spend.

Only one offer can be claimed per household and redemptions are capped at 2,000. All cashback earned from the deal will only be available for pay-out via BACS payment.

2. 50% off Cineworld Unlimited membership

Cineworld is celebrating the release of the new Avengers: Endgame film by offering film fans 50% off of the first month of a Cineworld Unlimited membership.

The special promotion will run until 30 April, simply use the ENDGAME discount code when buying an unlimited card online to receive the discount.

The cut price membership still includes all the other money-saving perks like 10% off snacks and drinks in-cinema and 25% off food and drinks at Bella Italia, YO! Sushi and Café Rouge  and other restaurant partners all year round.

3. Vodafone VeryMe deal

Anyone on the Vodafone mobile network can check the app to get access to My Vodafone rewards.

As part of the perks of being with the network, Vodafone offers its customers two tickets for £7 at Odeon branches across the UK and the offer refreshes every Thursday.

4. Use Nectar points

Shoppers can use their Sainsbury’s Nectar points to claim discounts on Vue cinema tickets. For every 500 points you get £2.50 off and there is no limit to how many points you can use in one go.

To redeem you have to show your Nectar card at your local Vue cinema, state how many points you want to redeem and they will be used to cover the amount you specify. There’s also the option to use the points on VIP seating or any refreshments you buy too. Sign up for a card online at:

5. Buy a family ticket

A group ticket is a no brainer option if you’re planning to see a film as a family, or want to take a couple of kids at the same time. And luckily most major cinema chains offer a value family ticket option.

An all inclusive family ticket at Vue cinemas will save you a (not to be sniffed at) 20% off and it gets you four tickets, four drinks and four snacks for just under £45. Or for tickets only opt for the familyx4 online ticket option for around £30. Just select family ticket option when booking online to receive the discounted rate.

ODEON also offer a family ticket option for two adults and two children or one adult and three children, costing around £30. You can just select the family ticket option when buying online.

6. Get 2 for 1 with Meerkat Movies deal

If you’ve made a purchase through you will be eligible for two for one cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for an entire year.

It just requires customers to download the reward app, and then activate membership to claim a weekly code that can be redeemed online or at your local cinema box office.

7. Exchange your Tesco Clubcard points

Similar to the Nectar loyalty rewards scheme, Tesco’s Clubcard also lets shoppers exchange points for tickets to watch any films at their local Odeon or Cineworld branch.

The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play for Android and Apple iTunes for iOS devices.

Shoppers can convert vouchers into discounts worth up to four times their value with Clubcard Boost. So if you could buy an Odeon adult cinema ticket for just £4.50 in Clubcard vouchers.


8. Take advantage of kids clubs

Vue, Odeon, Cineworld and Empire all offer money-saving kids clubs, which are extremely popular during the school holidays when they run every day.

Kids clubs at major cinema chains offer £2.50 tickets for both adults and kids to see the latest selection of family-friendly films at early screenings.

They’re an extremely cost effective way of taking your brood out locally, especially if you have a large young family.

9. Buy a loyalty card

If you are a regular at the cinema then a loyalty card may be the cheapest way to buy tickets.

Most major cinema chains offer ‘all you can watch’ access for a monthly fee, and if you usually go to the cinema twice or more in a month then it is most certainly cheaper.

Both Cineworld have an Unlimited loyalty card that costs £17.90 a month, while Odeon cinemas have a Limitless loyalty card that costs a smidgen more at £17.99 a month.
