Davina McCall and Made In Chelsea’s Ashley James are among those who have paid tribute to YouTuber and presenter Emily Hartridge in the wake of her tragic death.

The news was announced by her family on her Instagram page, confirming that she died in a tragic accident on Friday morning.

‘Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once,’ it read.

‘Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten.

‘She has touched so many lives it’s hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person xxx.’

How old was Emily Hartridge and what was the cause of her death?

Emily Hartridge was 35 years old at the time of her death.

She passed away after being involved in a collision with a lorry, while riding an e-scooter near her home on Friday.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: ‘We sent an advanced paramedic, two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and two medics in cars to the scene, with the first of our medics arriving in under four minutes. ‘Sadly, despite the extensive efforts of medics, a woman died at the scene.’

Emily’s death is thought to be the first in the UK involving an e-scooter – which are illegal to ride on the roads and pavement.

A Department of Transport spokesperson said: ‘We extend our deepest sympathies to all those involved in this tragic incident, and fully support the police as they carry out their investigations.

‘Safety is at the heart of all our road laws and it is important that retailers continue to remind people at the point of sale that it is illegal to ride e-scooters on public roads.’

How was Emily Hartridge best known?

Emily was a personal trainer who had more than 340,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel.

She posted new videos weekly, giving her followers health and lifestyle advice, as well as sharing videos of her travels.

More recently she opened up about the decision to freeze her eggs as she ‘refused to miss her chance at motherhood’.

In an Instagram post just days ago she spoke about wanting to start a family with her boyfriend Jacob Hazell.

‘I am currently injecting myself twice a day in the hopes of freezing some embryos with @jacob_hazell but my 2nd scan didn’t go well and 1 follicle is growing too quickly so it’s all a bit TBC right now,’ she explained.

‘I will find out more today so can everyone keeps their fingers crossed for me that things have changed.’

As well as her online presence, Emily also fronted the Channel 4 show Oh S**t I’m 30 which aired in 2016, and which saw her interviewing the likes of Hugh Jackman and Eddie Redmayne.
