He’s also played himself in TV shows like Hotel Babylon 2007 and The Thick of It in 2009.

In 2017, he started hosting Top 30, a daily 30-minute newsmagazine show which is broadcast across the US, and has been renewed to continue airing through 2019.

And what about Richard Bacon’s personal life?

During his time on Good Morning Britain yesterday, Richard paid tribute to Piers for reaching out to his family while he was in a coma last year.

In 2018, Richard had to be put into a medically induced coma for nine days after a bout of double pneumonia, from which he thankfully made a full recovery.

Speaking to GMB co-host Susanna Reid, Richard explained: ‘When you come that close to death, you get to see the best side of people. Not just the NHS but also friends.’

‘I hesitate to pay tribute to Piers Morgan,’ Richard hesitated, before adding: ‘But he did call my wife during that time, and was very sweet and actually very thoughtful. I was surprised at that!’
