How do you pronounce Nice biscuits? Manufacturer ends the debate once and for all

It’s been an ongoing question for what seems like years. How do you pronounce Nice biscuits?

Is it “nice”, like the compliment? Or “Nice”, like the southern French city near the Italian border?

The argument has finally been cleared up by the manufacturers themselves, in a response to a question on Twitter.

Australian biscuit-maker Arnott’s said: “Nice biscuits were named after the city in the South of France and pronounced the same as that city. They have been part of the Arnott’s range since 1922.”

People continued debating the pronunciation on-and-off on the Internet even after the post.

One person said on Twitter: “It can be confusing because Nice biscuits are also very nice.”

But another weighed in to disagree: “It’s always been ‘neece’ as far back as when I first bought them in the 70s. I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it rhyming with ice.”

A third Twitter user joked: “It can be confusing because Nice biscuits are also very nice.”
