How Arsenal would line up if all three of Wright's "dream" players are signed

Back in 2019 Mirror Football asked Ian Wright to name three players he’d love Arsenal to sign ahead of the season.

He replied: “Someone like Ben Chilwell. He is the kind of left-back who is getting better with every game. He’s an England international now. Somebody that I’m sure is going to be sought after.

“Then there is Youri Tielemans. He came over from Monaco. He’s on loan at Leicester City and he’s someone that – well there are loads of teams linked with him – but he’s someone that you’d want to have.

“And Nicolas Pepe at Lille. That kind of winger with his intensity, pace and skill. Those are the kind of players that are definitely going to improve any team, if I’m totally honest.

“And they’re at the age where they are going to be there for a few years. So that’s a dream list if I’m being totally honest.”

Arsenal, of course, went on to sign Pepe for a club-record £72million.

The club opted against signing a midfielder, instead bringing Dani Ceballos in on loan from Real Madrid.

The Gunners also purchased an alternative left-back in Kieran Tierney.

Since Wright’s comments, Mikel Arteta has replaced Unai Emery at the helm, but there are still components missing in north London.

Arsenal were recently linked with another left-back in Layvin Kurzawa, suggesting the club still wants to strengthen the position.

Wright is a fan of Ben Chilwell

Ceballos also has no plans to remain in London, meaning the club will have to splash out on a new middle-man in the summer window.

Should the Gunners take Wright’s wishes into consideration, they could line up with Chilwell on the left of a back-four comprised of David Luiz, William Saliba and Hector Bellerin with Bernd Leno in goal.

Youri Tielemans has impressed for Leicester City

Tielemans would stand alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield, behind Mesut Ozil, Bakayo Saka and Pepe with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up top.

It’s an XI most Gunners supporters would love to see down at the Emirates, but some serious money would need to exchange hands first.
