Housebuilder names new COO in management shake-up

Springfield Properties  has promoted Martin Egan to chief operating officer as one of five appointments in its senior management team.

Egan moves within the group from his previous role as managing director of Dawn Homes and will now oversee all of Springfield’s housebuilding divisions in the central belt – Dawn, Walker and Springfield Private. He joined the group when Springfield acquired Dawn two years ago.

Alasdair Mackie has been promoted from within the AIM stock market-listed firm to group engineering director, having joined Springfield over a decade ago as an engineering manager.

Ken Millar joins Springfield as group health & safety director from Robertson Group, where he held a similar role for five years. Prior to that he held the same title at housebuilder CALA.

Karen Campbell joins as group corporate communications director from the Scottish Futures Trust where she led the housing team. She was previously director of policy & operations at Homes for Scotland.

Richard Bennett joins with more than 35 years’ experience in plant and transport operations from facilities management company Altaian Servest, where he was head of group asset management for the UK & Ireland. He becomes managing director of Glassgreen Plant & Equipment Hire.

Springfield Properties chief executive Innes Smith said: “As we emerge from lockdown, we believe there will be a renewed demand for good quality housing to address Scotland’s housing shortage and increase choice to customers aspiring to a village lifestyle.

“Martin is one of the sectors most experienced senior leaders and has a proven record of looking after customers.

“His promotion, along with that of Alasdair Mackie, and the appointments of Ken, Karen and Richard, considerably strengthen our senior management team. As we look to the future, and continue with aspirations of growth, we need the best possible people and each of these individuals have the experience and drive to help us get there.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who are leaving the business for retirement. Brian Rees, Group Health & Safety Director; Jane Innes, Group, Marketing Director; and Ian Innes, Managing Director of Glassgreen, Plant & Equipment Hire, have made a significant impact on the business over the years and we wish them the best in their future endeavours.”
