Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker is furious with Tom Hanks after failing to receive a mention in the actor’s music documentary.
In 2017, Tom, 62, executive produced CNN documentary, The Nineties, which looked back at the biggest cultural events in America in the titular era.
The final installment of the seven-episode series focused on music and Hootie & the Blowfish were notably absent.
Darius, 53, rose to prominence as lead vocalist of the band who released their debut album, Cracked Rear View, in 1994.
The pioneering album shot to number one on the Billboard 200 chart and featured three hit singles – Only Wanna Be With You, Let Her Cry and Hold My Hand.
In light of their impact in the 1990s, Darius was disheartened to find the band were left out of Tom’s documentary and he’s made his feelings on the matter perfectly clear.
Speaking to the New York Times, Darius asked: ‘How the [expletive] can you do a show about ’90s music and not mention Cracked?’
Taking aim at the Toy Story 4 actor, the musician then stated: ‘[Expletive] Tom Hanks!’ the curse word of which is believed to be ‘f**k’.
While Tom is credited as an executive producer of the project, there were 18 others producers in total.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America certification, Cracked Rear View is the 10th most successful album of all time.
Hootie & the Blowfish are currently in the midst of a North American tour, their first in more than 10 years.
Stops so far have included Atlanta, Virginia Beach, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, while the band will be hitting Cleveland, Englewood, Cincinnati and New Jersey in the coming weeks.
Following their debut, the Blowfish scored another US chart-topping album with Fairweather Johnson in 1996 before releasing a further three albums.
