Homebase launches huge sale with 90% off lighting, storage and tools

HOMEBASE is running a sale with up to 90 per cent off lighting, bathroom, tools and garden equipment as stores seek to clear old stock before the new season.

Some branches have significant discounts on selected lighting, with a leaf pendant ceiling light down from £70 to £21 and the price of a floor lamp dropped by 60 per cent, from £110 to £44.

Smaller products such as night lights are on offer for £5.25, down from £17.50.

And a cute Philips swinging light was down from £80.50 to £24, a 70 per cent discount.

There are also offers in the garden section, where Homebase has dropped the price of its butterfly trellis to £7.49, 70 per cent off its £24.95 original price.

Meanwhile, a roof rack was pictured for £8.70, having been slashed from £29, and a chiminea cover was down to £2.50, from £12.50 – a saving of 80 per cent.

There are also bargain buckets where all products are 50p, including numbers and letters to attach to the front of a house.

Tools such as industrial work lights were also reduced, from £50 to £20, a 60 per cent discount.

 Garden items were also included

Although the store signage claims there is 90 per cent off some items, it seems to be smaller items which are the most heavily discounted.

For example, a guy rope had been cut to £1.30 from £12.97 – a 90 per cent drop.

The sale was spotted by Daniel Chubb of Facebook group Ways To Save after he visited his local Homebase store in Broadstairs.

And while Homebase confirmed that a number of their stores were having a clearance sale to clear old season stock before replenishing with spring and summer ranges, it said that discounting is at the managers’ discretion and will vary from store to store.

A spokesperson for the brand said: “There are some bargains to be had, but unfortunately what you see in one store may not be the same in another because once it’s gone it’s gone.”

The sale is only in stores and not available via Homebase’s website, so the only way to grab a bargain is to visit your local store.

You can find your nearest Homebase store here – there are 160 shops across the country.

And remember – it is always worth doing your research before you buy anything.

Even if something looks like a great bargain, you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere.

Homebase closed a number of stores in late 2018, but its remaining shops are still trading as normal.
