A CIVIL servant stabbed outside the Home Office was back at his desk by 9am the next morning — and is still refusing to take any time off.
It has emerged the housing ministry expert, in his 60s, was slashed at least three times — twice across the face, and once down his back — in the lunchtime attack.
The wounds to his nose are so serious he has been advised to consider plastic surgery to avoid permanent disfigurement.
But the Government worker discharged himself from hospital hours after last Thursday’s incident.
And he turned up for work in his department, which shares a building with the Home Office, as usual on Friday morning with his face heavily bandaged.
A colleague said: “He just wants to get on with his job. He hates the idea of making a fuss.
“In fact, his only complaint was his favourite suit had been ruined.”
The civil servant, one of the Government’s top building safety experts, had retired but was rehired in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.
The Sun is withholding his identity at his request.
