Hollywood studios have begun assembling coronavirus strategy teams as the disease rapidly spreads across the globe.

The virus has devastated efforts to launch movies and TV shows internationally.

According to Variety, companies are asking employees to delay work trips to affected countries such as China, Japan, Italy and South Korea.

Disney’s Mulan and the new James Bond film No Time To Die have cancelled plans for the China premieres, which may cost the company millions in box office avenue.

The publication reported that most of the major studios have created advisory teams made of members of production, finance, marketing and human resources to assess the potential ramifications.

The $200 million (£156 million) film Mulan was expected to do really well in places like China, but it won’t be shown for weeks or months.

No Time To Die, on the other hand, axed any plans to do promotions in China, South Korea and Japan.

At the time of writing, 54 countries have reported cases of coronavirus and 35 people have tested positive for the virus in the UK.

There have been over 2,900 deaths and more than 85,402 cases confirmed worldwide.

Other films affected by the fast-spreading virus include Mission: Impossible 7.

The cast and crew were meant to film scenes for the latest instalment of the action franchise in Venice, Italy over the next few weeks but the coronavirus had different plans for them.

However, Tom Cruise wasn’t in the country during the production break.

A rep told Metro.co.uk: ‘He wasn’t in Italy.’

The studio stated how it was taking the concerns of their staff seriously.

They announced: ‘During this hiatus, we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts.

‘We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.’
