It’s expected that the last episode he filmed, episode 16 of the show’s current season will pay tribute to George.

The show’s creator Adam Goldberg took to Twitter to share his condolences. He wrote: “Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy.

“By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark.”

The 87-year-old also received five Golden Globe Awards nominations for his on-screen performances, winning two.

This included the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy in 1974 for his performance in A Touch of Class.
