HOLLYOAKS fans were left devastated tonight as it looked like Tony Hutchinson had been killed by Breda McQueen after all.
Show veteran Tony was seen fighting for his life in the final moments on last night’s first look E4 show after being stabbed by Breda, leaving fans fearing the worst but hoping for a soap twist.
In tonight’s first look episode, Tony’s partner Diane was oblivious to his tragic plight, and was complaining how he wouldn’t return her calls and had left her in the lurch after their argument.
Heading to the The Hutch where Tony was due to pick up an award, Diane started to panic when he was a no-show, and Darren Osborne reminded him of a serial killer on the loose.
The killer in question, Breda, arrived to clean the eatery, but was aghast as Darren set about calling the police and soon dispensed of the weapon.
The killer – who has already snuffed out a number of other villagers in recent months – appeared to regret her latest actions, getting down on her knees and praying to the heavens.
Viewers were beyond devastated as it dawned on them that it didn’t look like Tony was coming back.
Writing on Twitter, one wrote: “So Breda has already got rid of Tony’s body. Guess that just set it in stone that he is actually dead and not coming back #Hollyoaks.”
A second added: “Can’t believe @Hollyoaks actually just killed tony off like that! One of the longest serving characters, deserved better, shame on you #Hollyoaks WHY GOD WHY!?”
A third tweeted: “I don’t believe it no tony ain’t dead plot twist coming please tell me plot twist coming.”
In last night’s first look, Tony was attacked after discovering that Breda had killed his son Harry.
He told her: “Harry was my son. You don’t get to decide who lives and dies. You’re not God. People make mistakes – you should help them.
“All that love and kindness you talk about, Harry could have had that. He could have been a better man. It wasn’t down to you to deprive him of his future, to take away my son.”
He then tried to grab Breda, as he shouted: “I’m not going to let you hurt anyone in this village again” before being brutally stabbed.
In an emotional montage, Tony’s life flashed before his eyes, including his children’s birth, wedding day and his recovery from cancer.
Even Harry turned up in a smart pink shirt, telling him: “Dad, it’s OK dad, I’m here” as he drifted away into unconsciousness.
