Hollyoaks' Stephanie Davis confirms reason behind Sinead's on-screen absence

Hollyoaks aired an hour-long episode on Friday which marked the end of the radicalisation of Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) storyline as evil Stuart Sumner was pushed off a cliff to his death by son his teenage son, Sid (Billy Price).

The first look episode also showed the villagers getting ready for Sinead O’Connor’s (Stephanie Davis) wedding to Sami Maalk (Rishi Nair)

In true soap fashion the ceremony didn’t go ahead because Sinead simply didn’t turn up.

The feisty character sent a text to her husband to be saying that she was staying in Spain and couldn’t go through with the ceremony.

Stephanie Davis has revealed the real reason behind Sinead O’Connor’s on-screen absence

Fans speculated that something had happened to Sinead and that’s why the show aired a 60-minute special but Stephanie has taken to Twitter to set the record straight about her character’s absence.

Responding to viewers tweets, Stephanie said: “Big love for the tweets guys! The love is unreal as always. I’ve not gone anywhere don’t you worry! I cannot wait to get back.

“I’ve not left, Im just having a well earned rest and took some time out to spend with my baby boy.

“It’s my home! Get me back behind that camera.”

Sinead was meant to get married to Sami during Friday’s episode but failed to show up

The former CBB star also told another fan of the Channel 4 soap that it wouldn’t be long before she comes back and we can expect to see the fallout of Sinead and Sami’s ill-fated wedding soon.

Putting Sinead’s no-show into context, Sami actor Rishi Nair told Digital Spy: “I think she was feeling a bit like they’d rushed into getting married.

“She’s having second thoughts, especially with Finn returning, and of course her ordeal with Laurie only just finishing.

“It has been quite a lot for her.

Fans will have to wait and see what drama Sinead brings when she returns to Hollyoaks

“I think that’s the reason she’s getting cold feet, and I don’t think it’s got anything to do with Sami particularly.

“I think it’s more she doesn’t feel like she’s in the right place to get married.”

Viewers will have to wait to see what is going to the couple when Sinead returns to the Oaks.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with first look episodes airing at 7pm on E4
