Hollyoaks fans furious as they find out the TRUTH about Maxine's 'illness'


The Hollyoaks cast member, played by Nikki Sanderson, has recently been claiming she only has months to live after complaining of memory loss and a numb limbs.

This has had boyfriend Damon (Jacob Roberts) sick with worry.

However, it was revealed tonight that Maxine in lying about being ill.

Maxine was seen whipping off the cast on her arm and picking up daughter Minnie (Eva Lorente) tonight after she tried to grab her pills.

“Nothing’s wrong with Maxine!”

She told her: “Look, mummy’s arm is okay. Mummy is okay.”

In a clip on the Hollyoak’s Twitter page, Maxine is then heard saying she’d got the all-clear.

However, as Damon tried to get on with his day, Maxine seemed to collapse. 

The Twitter post read: “Nothing’s wrong with Maxine!”

One fan replied: “Oh my God, how desperate can you be to fake an illness to keep a guy?! And also before all of this, did Damon show any sign of actually breaking up with her?”

TRUTH: However, it was finally revealed that nothing was wrong with Maxine tonight (Pic: C4)

Another added: “Why is she doing that? Damon loved her regardless of her being ill.”

A third chimed in: “Oh my God, getting her daughter to take this lie on too.”

Hollyoaks bosses are exploring the issue of Munchausen’s syndrome, which is defined by the NHS website as “a psychological disorder where someone pretends to be ill or deliberately produces symptoms of illness in themselves”.

Maxine star Nikki, 35, recently said: “Obviously people are not going to like Maxine for this because of what she does to Damon and the people around her, and how manipulative she’s being to get attention and love.

“At first people are going to hate Maxine for what she’s doing, but we also want to show the other side of it.

“As much as it’s a horrific thing, part of you feels sorry for her because to be doing what she’s doing, something’s not quite right with her.”

She added: “You’ve got to think ‘Why is she doing it?’ Hopefully as it progresses, people will see that side too.”

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 6:30pm, with the First Look episode on E4 at 7pm.
