Holly Willoughby marked a year in coronavirus lockdown by reflecting on ‘how far we’ve come’ amid the global health scare.

It has been exactly a year since prime minister Boris Johnson ordered the public into the first lockdown, with the Covid-19 death toll passing the 120,000 mark in the UK recently.

The nation fell silent at midday to remember Covid-19 victims across the country, with many also taking part in a candlelight vigil on their doorsteps at 8pm in memory.

Taking to Instagram, the This Morning presenter explained she was ‘feeling rather reflective’ on the last 12 months.

Alongside a glimpse at her outfit ahead of the ITV series, the 40-year-old penned: ‘Morning Tuesday… It’s a year to the day that Prime minister Borris Johnson first put us into national lockdown… [sic].

‘Feeling rather reflective about how far we’ve come and how far we’ve got to go…

‘Sending love to you and your families and especially thinking of you if this Year has taken away someone you love.

‘Today at midday we will be marking this milestone by joining the nation in a minutes silence to remember those we’ve lost… see you on @thismorning at 10am.’

Holly’s post comes after she was handed her dream role on Midsomer Murders as a surprise in a recent This Morning instalment.

Stars Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix made an appearance on Thursday’s episode, where they got onto the topic of dream cast cameos.

Neil told the presenter: ‘We’ve all had a big talk about who we want to appear on Midsomer, and we decided we want Holly Willoughby to appear in an episode of Midsomer Murders very soon.

‘Holly please, I am emboldened here to offer you a role in Midsomer Murders.’

Holly immediately screamed ‘yes’, and became emotional at landing a role in her favourite show.

‘I’ve seen every episode since it started way back when. Are you serious?’ she replied. ‘I mean, you’re going to have to kill me off really quickly as I’m terrible at acting.’

‘That’s never held us back in Midsomer!’ the actor responded.

While they didn’t give away details on the part, they promised that it would be a ‘substantial’ role in an episode.

Holly already had an idea of her death scene, adding: ‘Can I die by eating chocolate?

‘Because I saw an episode where somebody died by eating chocolate and I was like, “that’s the way to go.”’

We can’t wait to find out…
