Holly Willoughby, 38, took to Twitter and shared a heartwarming message after she revealed her seven-year-old niece Lola will be taking part in a 24 hour silence for BBC’s Children In Need. The This Morning presenter took the opportunity to acknowledge her fans as she said their kind messages “moved” her.

In view of her 7.4 million followers, the ITV favourite gushed: “Just reading some of the messages you sent to my niece… just wanted to say thank you… your kindness has really moved me.”

Fans inundated the star with comments, as one person said: “She is an amazing little girl doing something great to help other children.”

Another person commented: “Go on Lola, you can do it kid.”

While a third person added: “You are most welcome.”

Holly’s post comes after she previously tweeted last week that her niece was taking part in a sponsored silence for Children In Need.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, she wrote: “My seven year old niece Lola is doing a 24 hour sponsored silence for @bbccin #childreninneed. She’s doing amazingly well so far and it would be magical if you could help spur her on! Go Lola. Thank you xxx”(sic)

The small-screen star accompanied the post with a snap of Lola sporting a mask for her sponsored event.

Fans flocked to comment as one person said: “Amazing Lola! Whatever you manage will be fantastic and am sure Auntie @hollywills will be so very proud! What a wonderful cause.”

In one snap, the outspoken broadcaster could be seen making a funny face to the cameras.

But it wasn’t long before Holly had to shoo him away as Piers attempted to block her from taking snaps on the red carpet.

The event, formerly known as the ITV Gala, is a star-studded night of entertainment for commercial customers, colleagues and talent.

Holly looked gorgeous as she sported a simple mid-length dress which featured gemstones across the hemline.

Meanwhile, the This Morning presenter was reduced to tears on the ITV programme today as she chatted about domestic abuse with therapists Nick and Eva Speakman.

Eva bravely opened up about her own personal experiences with domestic abuse with a former partner.

The harrowing tale described by Eva about her former partner had Holly in tears as she struggled to continue the interview.

She said to Eva: “You’re the experts in this and yet you’re living with this trauma inside…”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
