Holly Willoughby proved her kindness and generosity by donating a diamond to a young couple, Jaymz and Kat, who survived cancer.

The This Morning presenter was at the A Very British Affair fundraising event in support of British cancer charity CLIC Sargant on 13 September, where she won the loose half-carat jewel, courtesy of Windsor-based jewellers Berry’s, as a ‘golden ticket’ inside a box of chocolates.

But after hearing of the couple, and their story of how they battled cancer at such a young age, Holly decided to give the diamond away to them.

Event organiser Lucy Butcher, who sat at the same table as the couple, told Hello! Magazine all about her kind gesture.

‘A lovely friend of mine from Windsor, a jeweller called Berry’s, really wanted to support the charity so donated a loose half-carat diamond,’ she revealed.

‘As you walked in, there were little boxes of chocolate that guests could buy and inside one of the boxes was a golden ticket – the diamond. It just so happened that Holly Willoughby won it.

‘Rather than take it for herself, Holly simply stood up, walked over to our table and said that she’d rather they had it.’

Lucy later admitted that the couple ‘couldn’t believe’ that they had won the diamond.

‘They couldn’t believe it. They were so happy and blown away,’ she added.

‘She [Holly] showed such generosity. It was just spur of the moment – she just stood up and said “Oh my goodness, I’ve won!”

‘Then, without hesitating, she just donated it to the couple.’

Jamz revealed that he and his partner’s ‘jaws dropped to the floor’ when they were presented with the diamond, and they were ‘overwhelmed’ by Holly’s kindness.

When asked who gets to keep the diamond between the two, he joked they have ‘shared ownership’, but suggested that it will ‘get turned into a ring’.
