This Morning’s Holly Willoughby was overcome with emotion during yesterday’s episode following a comment made by pal Phillip Schofield.
The famous duo have continued to front the hit ITV programme which is currently operating with “skeleton staff” with all backstage services being cut back to an “absolute minimum”.
Holly, 39, and Phillip, 58, have also been following the government’s social distancing advice of remaining two meters apart while presenting in a bid to combat the coronavirus pandemic which continues to sweep across the globe.
Appearing on the show via video link, Vanessa Feltz led a phone-in item on the pandemic which has seen the UK placed on lockdown.
However, the best friends started evaluating their own situation within the television studio.
“I miss Vanessa not being in here,” said Holly before Phillip added: “I miss everyone not being in here.”
Phillip then proceeded to say: “Thank goodness we’ve got each other.
“You’re a long way away but thank goodness we’ve got each other.”
Overcome with emotion, Holly added: “Oh my God, you’re going to make me cry!”
The pair have previously spoken about why they are continuing to host the show despite ITV cancelling shows such as Lorraine and Loose Women.
Addressing their millions of viewers, Holly said: “Let’s start by explaining, probably actually for the first time ever, why we are here today.”
Before Phil added: “The government has classed us as an essential service for the time being to bring you the latest news on the virus.
“To answer your concerns with our doctors, to offer useful advice and to hopefully lighten the load as only This Morning knows how.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV One.
