Holidays: This is the worst hotel chain in the UK – have you stayed at one of the hotels?

“Which? used to have a reputation for being impartial and as a genuine source of advice and guidance. Year after year they rehash criticisms of our hotel that has changed beyond all recognition.  Perhaps this is because they ask the same people the same questions over and over again.

“On many occasions, we have invited Which? to visit and inspect our new hotels and these requests fall on deaf ears. Our mattresses, pillows, climate-controlled rooms, bedside USB charging ports, and increasing network of inner-city locations, with rooms for as little as £19.99 a night, represent style, comfort, value and affordable city centre access. Repeat bookings and customer feedback paint a very different picture indeed and we are hugely proud of the amazing service that we provide night after night after night.”

Ibis Budget was ranked as the third-worst hotel chain in the UK, receiving a customer score of 60 per cent. While it scored three stars for customer service, value for money and cleanliness it was let down by the quality of its rooms and its food offering.

A spokesperson for ibis budget hotels told Express.co.uk: Our hotels offer outstanding value for money, as highlighted by the Which? report, with the joint lowest average price of all the chains surveyed.

“The research also recognises the good customer service and the cleanliness of our hotels. Analysis of customer feedback, based on a large sample aggregating 73,000 reviews across platforms including Booking.com, Google and our TrustYou survey, shows an average score for UK & Ireland ibis budgets hotels of 78.2 out of 100 for 2019.”
