However, Fletch’s meeting doesn’t go to plan – despite his best efforts – after he accidentally tells him that someone put in a complaint.

Charlie then loses his temper, thinking he’s being punished for the hospital being understaffed.

Meanwhile, nurse David in Holby City is sent to Darwin in next Tuesday (March 31) episode because of the staff shortage.

He ends up clashing with Jac, who he labels a “glorified paramedic” unable to deal with the challenges faces the hospital.

Holby City’s series producer said last summer that she is committed to even more crossovers between the medical soap operas.

Speaking about the two explosive crossover episodes last March – the first in a decade, she told Digital Spy: “I’d love to [do more crossovers]. The crossover was a phenomenal achievement and it’s safe to say a good old Connie and Jac clash is about the best thing ever as far as the audience is concerned.

“It was a huge achievement and everyone worked so hard, so let’s see.

“It’s probably not viable to do anything on that scale for a few years yet, simply because of logistics. But there is increased and more complex character crossover between the two shows on quite a regular basis now.”
