Manchester United transfer target Hirving Lozano ‘dreams’ of a move to Old Trafford, according to the president of his former club Pachuca.
Lozano, 23, has been prolific in front of goal since joining PSV Eindhoven from Pachuca in 2017, netting 38 times in 68 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit, and the winger’s form has caught the attention of Europe’s elite clubs.
Recent reports suggest that United have opened talks with Lozano’s agent, Mino Raiola, over a potential switch this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
Borussia Dortmund and England wonderkid Jadon Sancho is Solskjaer’s priority target in this position but Lozano remains firmly on United’s radar as an alternative option.
Lozano has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Pachuca president Jesus Martinez claims that United have aware of Lozano’s talents since he was a teenager.
‘What I can say and guarantee is that Hirving has had a Manchester United scout watching him since he was 16,’ Martinez told ESPN Deportes.
‘They have his whole record.’
Martinez, who had a close relationship with Lozano at Pachuca, has revealed that the Mexico international has always ‘dreamed’ of joining United.
‘They have everything: videos, goals, behaviour, qualifications. They are one of the clubs with the best scouts and professionals in that area,’ he added.
‘My ultimate dream would be to see ‘Chucky’ [Lozano’s nickname] at United and Hector [Herrera] at Atletico Madrid.
‘It would be my dream and theirs.’
Lozano’s representative, Raiola, has brought Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford in recent seasons and is in regular contact with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
It’s believed Napoli are also lining up a bid for Lozano with Carlo Ancelotti an admirer of the £34m-rated forward.
