Hilarious pictures reveal the astonishing way small children have X-rays and it’ll leave you in stitches

IF YOU’VE been on social media over the past few days, you may have seen photos circulating of small children squished into glass contraptions.

To be honest, they look hilarious – but it’s all a little bizarre. So, what is going on?

Adorably, the youngsters are actually getting X-rays.

The contraption they’re in is called a Pigg-O-Stat (yes, that is its real name), and according to the makers, it’s meant to prevent children from moving and becoming exposed to radiation while being scanned.

Their website reads: “The Pigg-O-Stat is an all-in-one pediatric immobilisation device designed for positioning infants and young children for an appropriate X-ray without significant complications.”

The product has been around since 1960, but you’re probably unlikely to see one at your local hospital.

According to the Royal College of Radiologists, devices like the Pigg-O-Stat are not routinely used within the NHS.

In paediatric radiology, very small infants going for fluoroscopy are placed in padded cradles to keep them still, and larger babies are held steady on changing mats.

Older babies needing CT or MRI scans are sedated or anaesthetised.

Even so, the snaps have left Twitter users in stitches. One person wrote: “Omg I thought they were in a blender lol.”

Another joked: “The kid in the yellow. The. Kid. In. The. Yellow. The grudge that baby is holding… everybody in danger.”

To be honest, we wouldn’t be best pleased ourselves.

Meanwhile, one mum has revealed a clever tip for removing splinters from kids’ fingers painlessly using a Calpol syringe.

Doctors told a woman she wasn’t pregnant but she gave birth in her hotel room hours later.

And a mum has claimed a £24 baby sleeping bag FINALLY helped her tot sleep through the night.
